- Planning, formulating, reviewing are all good traits if you have time and if your planning an attack, offensive or raid. When you have troops allready on the ground and engaged in hostilities it is a time for action based on known, trained offenses.

- Also I personally feel that the majority of the people here in the U.S. that would like to see this ban have no actual idea of the types of mines employed by todays military and the many uses they serve for our troops in combat zones.

- If you research the last 50 years of problems from left over land mines you will find that NONE of them were U.S. military installed mines.

- Well Put GP, plus the american placed mines of wars past have not been a problem because we also map and remove them. Its in these third world dictator and warsaw (russian) backed countries were mines were indescrimately placed and forgotten about, often for decades.
